Flybe’s Lounges Wifi Enabled by BT

BT, the telecom services provider, has now equipped six passenger lounges of Flybe Limited, a British airline, with mobile broadband access. The lounges at Edinburgh, Gatwick, Belfast, Glasgow, Birmingham and Exeter airports now have the Openzone service of BT.

The users can now access the internet through any gadget that supports wireless connections. The users can also call through VoIP in the equipped lounges.

BT broadband customers, BT Openzone subscribers, those having BT FON WiFi minutes, and O2 iPhone and mobile broadband users will be able to access this service free of cost. Those who are not existing BT customers can purchase BT Openzone package online in order to access WiFi from these airport lounges.

Chris Bruce, General Manager, BT Openzone remarked during the launching ceremony that professionals do not wish to disrupt their work when they are on the move. This facility allows them and the people who are vacationing to stay connected. BT is trying to provide WiFi services wherever travellers demand it, therefore, WiFi access is being provided in more places within the country and also in popular destinations abroad, he said.

The current rate of BT Openzone starts from 0.5p per minute. The BT International WiFi package allows the customers to use the pay as you go mobile broadband internet service overseas at the rate of 12p per MB, which according to BT is more cost effective than the current EU mobile roaming rate.
