10 Easy Ways to Generate Website Traffic

This article will show you 10 easy ways to get more targeted traffic to your website. Use as many of these techniques as possible to improve your website traffic. And be sure to track all of your different traffic campaigns so you’ll know which ones are working the best. Then you can concentrate most of your efforts on the ones that make you the most money. So let’s get started.

1) ‘Pay Per Click Search Engines’ – This is one of the fastest ways to get targeted traffic. Just set up an account with some of the top PPC search engines and start bidding on keywords related to your product. Use the keyword suggestion tools that the search engines provide to make it easy to build your keyword list. Make a long list of targeted keywords so you can take advantage of the least expensive ones. Then write a killer ad with an attention grabbing headline and start driving traffic to your website.

2) ‘Search Engines’ – To get the free traffic from the search engines you will want to get ranked as high as possible. So here are a few tips that should be helpful: Have lots of links to other sites, use the best keywords for your targeted market on your website/sales page and choose your domain name wisely.

3) ‘Write Articles’ – Do you want to get a ton of free traffic to your website? Just start writing articles and submit them to related ezines. Always make sure your articles are filled with quality content. And you can include your bylines at the bottom of all articles. Then whenever someone reads your article they will be exposed to a link to your website.

4) ‘Solo Ads in Ezines’ – Solo ads should also be a good way to send traffic to your site. Find ezines that are related to your market and place ads with them. A solo ad is someone sending your ad to their list without any other ads. And the people reading your ad will feel it comes recommended from the ezine owner. To search for ezines in your related market just use your favorite search engine and enter: “ezines ________”. Fill in the blank with your related market. Plus you can do a search for the top rated websites in your related market and then contact them to see if they accept solo ads in their ezines.

5) ‘Classified Ads in Ezines’ – Now this will be very similar to solo ads but should be a lot cheaper because of the smaller ad space. And classified ads will be sent out with other ads and other content. But use the same strategies as described in solo ads to generate traffic. The secret here is to have a good ad with a great headline to make readers click on your link. The better your ad is then the more money you’ll make. Another thing to mention is if your ads are making you money then keep running them. But you will also want to run split test to try to improve your ads.

6) ‘Ads to AOL Customers’ – You could send ads to the 20 million people using AOL to collect even more traffic. Just use the same techniques as in ‘Classified Ads in Ezines’. Again for best results try to create irresistible ads.

7) ‘Banner Ads’ – You may want to invest in some banner ads for even more traffic. If you use a word banner ad, then it can be written similar to a classified ad. Some banner ads are cost per impression and others are cost per click. With the cost per click banner ad you only pay when someone visits your site, which may be better. 500 impressions doesn’t really mean anything if no one visits your website. But 500 clicks on your banner ad mean 500 people to your site.

8) ‘Linking to Websites’ – Another way to get targeted traffic to your website is by linking to other sites. Only link to reputable sites that you would want to recommend to your good customers. Search for high traffic websites that are related to yours and then try to get them to link to your site. Collect information about these sites so you can send them an email later. In your email compliment them on their site and explain how linking to your site will benefit them. Tell them their customers will be interested in the information on your website. If they don’t agree to link to your site then try exchanging links with them. Also start an affiliate program it’s the ultimate linking system.

9) ‘Viral Marketing’ – You can also create lots of website traffic using viral marketing. Create or buy a product that is valuable and has permanent links back to your websites. Then sell or give this product away and then let your customers sell it or give it away. You will have a viral product that can spread all over the internet like a virus and all those links will keep sending prospects back to your websites.

10) ‘Joint Ventures’ – Joint ventures are a great way to get target traffic fast. When you do a JV with someone you can promote each other’s product to your lists. Both JVs will make sales and increase their customer lists almost overnight. Once you start developing JVs you can use the results from the first one to promote the next one. And the more JVs you have the more sales you’ll make.

Targeted website traffic is the lifeblood of any website looking to generate revenue. While FREE traffic from the search engines seems the most logical way to go, actually staying ahead of the game can be tough. Here are my top 3 ways to send your traffic counter spinning without the headaches.

1. Trading Links With Other Webmasters:

By mutually agreeing with another webmaster to trade link exposure on each others site, you’re expanding your market reach significantly. Not only does this generate instant traffic from the link partner, but you’ll also BOOST your Google PR and link ranking with other search engines as a bonus.

This helps you rank better in the listings, generating even more FREE traffic, without doing any complicated SEO.

There are some great tools to help you get started trading links. Some of them are even free. I don’t recommend them personally because annoying banners or other types of ads compete for the same space, doesn’t look very professional.

As an added bonus you start to gain more respect within your industry. Articles have this uncanny knack to create an aura of expertise around the writer.

You also benefit yet again with search engine ranking, as other webmasters with mailing lists publish your article on their site. Creating yet another link back to you.

Articles are a VERY effective pre-selling technique too.

How Not To Explode Your Traffic

Traffic is the bread and butter of any website or blog. Without traffic you cannot create a revenue and you will end up being the only person visiting. There are many different ways to build traffic, but what people tend to over look is that any real and legitimate traffic building ways takes time. You normally won’t do something traffic related and see 2000 people show up to your page.

Some of the good ways to advertise includes:

Writing articles
Pay Per Click (PPC) or
Your link or banner on a popular website/blog

On the other hand there are many bad ways to try to get traffic. One of the worst ways is using autosurf traffic exchange. I don’t like to make assumptions on anything so I tried a few of them out. The most I’ve tried all work the same way. You sign up add your website/blog/banner to your account and start surfing.

You have to look at other peoples pages for a set amount of time that varies depending on which autosurf you use. Generally it’s 15-30 seconds you have to look at a page before you get credit. Everytime you look at someone elses page and get credit, that means that let’s say you have 50 credits, then they will show your page to 50 people usually.

This sounds great but what you have to remember is you are there to get free traffic to your page and so is everyone else there. Most are trying to get a sale and unless you have a really great site, no one is staying there any longer than they have to. They will be moving on to the next page to get more credits to advertising their site. And there are two types autosurf and manualsurf.

They both mean exactly that. You have to wait the specified time then manually click to the next webpage. Autosurf you can set it and forget it, literally. You start it up and walk away or minimize the page and continue using your pc. Now think about that. If you are doing that, how many others are doing the same and how many are NOT looking at your website.

The worst I’ve found is one that gave me so much traffic I had to pause my account. Pausing my account means that my credits would keep growing but I wouldn’t get any visitors to my website. Why did I do this? Well I have adsense and this is not real traffic. I put another non-adsense page in my account and had traffic go there. In two hours the account showed I had surfed 500 websites and had gotten 400 visitors. When I went and checked my webpage counter it shoes I had only 50 visitors and they were shown my page over and over.

So the major lists of reasons to stay away from these type of programs is:

1. No one is really paying attention to your site, when there really trying to advertise there own.
2. Using these programs when you have advertisers on your site, such as adsense or affiliate banners, can get you banned from them for fake impressions.
3. Not enough people so your not getting unique visitors each time.
4. Some will send you 100 visitors in a 1 minute. Which can make not only your advertisers ban you, but also get you in trouble with the search engines. This is called exploding your traffic and it’s usually not a good idea. Even reputable places that can get you visitors won’t send a 10,000 to your site in one day.

In all, I think there are much better ways you can spend your time building traffic than falling into this trap. Using autosurf to explode your traffic is a bad idea like I explained above, because traffic is something that naturally climbs. It can go fast if you know what to do or slow to non-existent if you don’t. But it should just explode by jumping from 1 to a 1000 visitors in a few hours.
