In Hope, Not Expectation
I’ve been thinking about dining room tables this year, since mine is getting a little ancient. The table was evidently well-made, as it is still looking quite fine, however that doesn’t prevent me hoping for a new table. Because of the state of the economy, there are some incredible discounts out there nowadays. I could not pay for a new table if there weren’t. A selection of the dining sets I’ve spotted are selling for half-price, and that seems like a superb deal to me.
When next I have friends around for supper, I am planning to do tapas to begin with.
That is good as everybody can sample all of the different dishes. And then we will have chicken, fried in chilli and honey, with endives and dolmades.
For afters, it will have to be tiramisu, and maybe a cheese board. I’m hoping everybody will be feeling hungry.
Every time I have a dinner-party, I realize that I don’t have enough dining room chairs. I ought to stop sending invites to so many people. The truth is that I constantly cook an excessive quantity of stuff, therefore I require plenty of people to scoff it. I’m always happy if there are loads of folk around my dining table, feasting on a casserole or a curry. Good food and a bit of entertaining chat is a recipe for a great night. Although a bit of alcohol is an added bonus!
My sister has the most splendid dining furniture in her home. If we are round for supper we eat brilliant food and really enjoy ourselves, regularly staying there long into the wee hours, however I invariably feel a little jealous of the dining room furniture.
In fact, her whole abode is fabulous, maybe since her spouse is terribly wealthy. He’s a terrific fellow mind you, so I do not think that she got married to him for his money.
Well not only for the money, at any rate!
